  1. Clara, Amelia, and Sophie's presentation was absolutely tea and crumpets. I enjoyed Clara's performance as sole actor, whether that was intentional or they were forced to do it in lieu of actors. If you plan on continuing this series, get a fake mustache for Tom. Then you'll be golden. Or if you don't that's cool too. I mean, you could be doing other stuff with your break. Like drinking eggnog, making dangerous chemical concoctions, and procrastinating on your homework. That's what I'll be doing.

    Happy Explo-, err, Holidays, everyone!

  2. I think the presentations have been pretty interesting so far. Art, puppet shows, found poems, Minecraft. There's definitely been an interesting spectrum of media. It was nice to see the Valley of Ashes actually take on a material form in Minecraft, a game which I know takes forever to work on. Then again, that knowledge is only based off of my experiences with Sauerbraten, but I don't know how different Minecraft can be. Likely more annoying. Also, the found poems were pretty neat. I thought that Neriah's was going to be a poster at first, but it was more of a blend between poster and two found poems. And ART. ART, GUYS. ART. That happened too, and it was really really good. Then there was the puppet show, which was a nice change of pace with the ever obnoxious Daisy voice.

As a whole, I feel the entire class had a good grasp on Gatsby. It's challenging to quantify that and say how well everyone grasped it, since it's mostly opinionated. One person could think it's a critique of the American Dream and would thus believe that that was the only possible meaning of the text. But I feel that whatever everyone's views were on the novel, they did a great job of expressing them and backing them up.

  3. I have fully enjoyed seeing all the presentations. Especially how each person or group did something that was really original, I think this is one of the times that a creative project was actually creative, and showed that the students put work into what they were doing. I really enjoyed WIll's, Matt's and Caleb's project-- it was not only original, but impressive and had a professional touch to it.
Oona's, Piper's and Gretta's puppet show was also entertaining, and i enjoyed their lighter approach to the novel and Jay Gastby- it proved to be an overall fun and cute little show, that definitely kept me entertained. Also Oona has nice socks.

  4. I think the projects were a good way to show understanding of a novel. With an essay, people say "this happened and it meant this." With a creative project, you can do a lot more to talk about a book. You can parody it, you can abridge it somehow, you can do all kinds of things that require you to actually understand the book, instead of just reading through it lazily and looking up the main themes online.

  5. I enjoyed everybody's projects, it's fun to see what creative paths people take off of this book. It was a good book too. Posters projects were really creative, it was also cool to look at the different interpretations of the book covers. The creativity of Clara's vlog project was especially cool as I love watching vlogs on youtube already. Great idea for a project, as opposed to the general boring essay or book report.
